Students Want New Course! I'd Like To See The STATS On That!

My students need 11 copies of the college textbook, "Essentials of Statistics".

I teach high school mathematics in a school district that is struggling to fund the programs that students want and need to succeed. I am the only high school math teacher in my district and teach all courses from Algebra I up through college Calculus.

Our school partners with a local university to offer dual enrollment college courses to our students. We added two new college mathematics courses this year, upon student request, and they are going wonderfully. This group of students is outstanding and they still have one year of high school left to go. They have asked for more advanced courses: Calculus, which is already taught, and Statistics, which the college has agreed to let me teach. However, due to the state of education funding in our state, there is no money for our school to purchase college textbooks for these students.

My students need these college level textbooks in order to take this course next year. You will make it possible for my students to stay in this college level mathematics course. They will be able to get a jump start on their college educations and will save money on the cost of college by taking the course in high school. Please help me show these students how important an education is and that they should keep challenging themselves. Almost every college degree requires a statistics course and they could cover that requirement before leaving high school.

Please help my students reach these new heights by allowing them to take this challenging college class while still in high school, and getting a jump start on their post-secondary educations.
