This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello. My public school is primarily Hispanic with many of my K-5 elementary students unable to read, speak, or write English at their grade level. In addition, this area is in an urban, high poverty area. Since my previous school closed last June, I taught summer school here and quickly immersed myself into the culture of this school. Students are eager to learn and have a culture that values being respectful to other students and adults. As a result, students are quick learners and high achievers.

The situation is that I am not able to take longer distance photos and videos with my new Canon SX20. At school assemblies and other school events, we need the ability to take long distance shots with adequate light. The Canon SX20 has a 'hot shoe' on top that can attach a powerful flash that can provide light at a long distance. We also need a case for the camera and flash as well as a memory card to store pictures and videos.

The solution is a Canon Speedlite 430EX II hot shoe clip on flash, a Canon PSC 4000 Deluxe Leather Case soft case for digital photo camera, and a SanDisk Ultra II flash memory card 4 GB SD. These accessories will provide a wonderful resource for school functions to be used by both staff and students. As a technology teacher I want my students to become familiar with all sorts of technology including zoom cameras that take pictures and video. This type of technology will prepare students for the 21st century experiences they will need as a well rounded student.

Without your help this resource will not be available to my students. There is simply no budget for this type of camera technology. DonorsChoose donors are the best in the world.
