This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello! I teach 4th grade in a Title 1 school in a high poverty area in Southern California. I have a class with special education students, English learners, and general education students.

My students love singing and recording themselves. We recently received some recording software and CDs to record ourselves on through Donorschoose.org. It helps so much for the students to be able to sit down, record themselves reciting a story, and to hear it played back. It also helps to hear the students' songs as they write them. To add to this, we need to be portable with our recording. We can record ourselves with the equipment we have, but now the students want to record themselves at home, outside, and around the school with ease. The digital recorder can record our singing, voices, and stories and can easily be uploaded to our recording program, put in files, and be put directly on CD. We want to use technology to its fullest potential in our class!

This project is piggy backing on another project of recording voices. The students currently go to our recording "studio", record their stories, and store them on files to later put on CD. Many have expressed interest in being able to record themselves at home as well. It will also make our classroom singing much easier to record. The portable recording device we have now is with an old cassette recorder which does not allow for the digital format. . . in other words, it's very outdated. Help bring us into this century!

Your donation of digital recording device with headphones will bring the students' voices alive and help improve not only their listening and speaking skills but also their reading and writing skills. The recorder will be used for many years to come by students and staff at our school. The recording device will allow us to record our beautiful singing (which kids love) and have it done with a simple touch of a button. We appreciate your consideration.
