I teach in South Carolina in a classroom with a group of students that need the push to advance to the next level. By enriching our social studies curriculum with a novel, I feel that students will gain knowledge and insight to help get them there.

Can you imagine what life was like in the 1960's? Depending on your age, you might be able to, but for children of the 2000s, it is quite difficult since they didn't live during this time period.

The book, "The Wednesday Wars", will give students insight as to what life was like in the 1960s during Vietnam. By showing them history through reading, I hope that I can hook their interest in social studies to deepen their knowledge on the time period of the 1960s.

By supporting this project, my students will get the opportunity to learn more about life in the 1960s.
