I teach English/Language Arts in 6th grade single gender environment. I teach in a magnet program that offers students a single gender environment to meet their educational needs.

What's another word for horrible? Did I spell that correctly, Mrs. "J"? I am bombarded with these questions as a Language Arts teacher. I know that students need to love to learn to use dictionaries and thesauri but when you only have three to use, they become impatient. I can only work with one student at a time and then they lose their desire to create great voice using vivid and precise words.

Having the dictionaries and thesauri would help the students gain greater vocabulary and create stronger writers. These dictionaries can also be used in other classroom when they complete their writing assignments.

You will ensure that my students become effective writers which in turn makes them effective readers. These supplies seem simple but they are truly powerful in any classroom. Teachers learn to to modify and adjust; however, my colleagues and I are trying to get the students to write across the curriculum that means writing in English, Social Studies, Math and Science. We want our students to produce quality writing pieces.
