Portable Whiteboard for my Blended Learning Classroom

My students need access to a portable whiteboard, whiteboard markers and erasers to provide differentiated assistance in our blended learning classroom that combines both computer and teacher instruction.

I get to spend every day in a classroom of students getting a second chance to graduate. I teach math (Algebra 1/Geometry/Algebra 1) in a brand new alternative program for over-aged (16 years old) and under-credited (8 credits) students in a blending learning environment that combines computer and teacher based instruction to help students advance at their own pace and re-capture their credits. I teach in a high-needs community at a comprehensive public high school where 100% of the students receive free lunch.

My students have been given an incredible opportunity to get the credits they need to graduate. My classroom has 18 brand new computers that my students use to accelerate their learning. While the computers and technology are truly an excellent opportunity for my students, they each require individualized and differentiated instruction because they are moving at their own pace and are each at different points in the course. My team and I have created Individualized Learning Plans for each student that maps out their road to graduation.

I know that the key to success for each individual student is to supplement their learning with individual and small group enrichment. I am requesting a portable whiteboard, dry erase markers and erasers so that I can provide this individualized support to my students throughout the course of the day. I envision my students working diligently on their computer based work and I will use the whiteboard to address individual and small group misunderstandings.

Without this program, most of my students would not graduate high school. You will make it possible for my students to get the most out of this incredible opportunity and provide the resources they need to get their diplomas.
