"I teach 11th grade chemistry at a Visual and Performing Arts High School in Missouri. I am unable to use a projector of any sort because we get so much sunlight in my classroom and have no blinds to cover the windows. This is a basic need that our school is unable to meet. During particularly sunny days, the sun also makes the room extremely hot. This also makes it very difficult for the students near the windows to concentrate. They often tell me that they feel like they are melting in my classroom. The funding of this project would provide us with 8 sets of large blinds to cover the windows in our classroom. This would allow the use of overhead and LCD projectors in the classroom to show videos and interactive websites. This would also help ensure that my classroom is comfortable for the students on sunny days, allowing them to concentrate more on their work. I am helping prepare my students for success in their college science courses, and this unmet basic need is inhibiting my ability to give them similar learning experiences as their wealthier peers. Please help fund this project. The lack of blinds is a simple logistical problem that is greatly limiting my ability to use technology in my classroom.
My students need 8 sets of blinds for the windows in the chemistry laboratory classroom.

Dear JAX, Todd, Dot and Bill, a wonderful caring teacher, Loving Grandparents, Carly, Barbara, Courtney and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,
Thank you so much for your contribution to blinds for my classroom. Helping me fulfill this basic logistical need in my classroom will make a huge difference to my instructional options as a teacher and the achievement of my students. I am so excited for all of the videos and animated demonstrations that I will be able to show my students now that I can use a projector! Happy Holidays and thank you again for your generosity! With gratitude, Ms. G.

"We gave to this project because my husband and I came to visit your school and to see our daughter....your science teacher Ms. Gilbert. We know how much our daughter wants to help you all become better students, and how much it means to her to be able to get the blinds for you.We are happy to help. "
