"I am a kindergarten teacher at a charter school in Chicago. I have 27 amazing students, who unfortunately do not receive very much, if anything, for the holidays.
Our class' all time favorite story is "We're Going On A Bear Hunt". I own a copy of the pop up version and the students absolutely love this story. Each time I read this book aloud, my students are happily reading with me and doing the hand motions. It is one of the first books my students were able to read to themselves, which is a huge deal, in which they are very proud!
As the holidays are approaching, I would love to be able to give my students a gift that I know they will love and use educationally at home. I plan to raffle off the beloved pop up version of this story to one of my lucky students at our holiday party.
Please help me bring a huge smile to the faces of each and every one of my students this holiday season. Especially with the economy, I know my students will not be getting much for Christmas. You will really be making a huge difference!
My students need 27 book and toy gift sets of "We're Going On A Bear Hunt" and 1 pop-up version of the same book.

Dear Michael, Helena, Susan, Carmen J., Emily and Jack & Miriam Durham,
Thank you so much for your generosity. My students were beyond excited to tear open the wrapping paper to find such a great Christmas gift. It was truly a moment to see. The children instantly started reading the book to their new toy bear. To this day, they still bring in their gift to school for rest time. This gift not only brought smiles to my student's faces, but it encouraged each and everyone of them to continue to read at home. At 5 years old, everyone in my class feels like a good reader, thanks to you.
Thank you again for spreading the holiday cheer!
With gratitude, Ms. D.

Dear Michael, Helena, Susan, Carmen J., Emily and Jack & Miriam Durham,
Thank you so much for so generously funding this proposal! It is great to see that you all share the same passion for literacy as I do. My students are going to absolutely LOVE their gifts. The books you have helped me purchase will not only be an exciting gift, but also a tool they can use at home to practice reading. Since this is a favorite of the classroom, every student will be able to feel confident that they are on their way to becoming good readers. I know this will be a holiday gift they will never forget. Thank you again for helping spread the holiday cheer!
Reviewed the project essay and sent follow-up questions if needed.
