I currently have been teaching second grade for 6 years. My school is located in Nevada in a high-need community.
With the every day changing economy my students are facing in their community I want to find ways for them to cope and be kids. I feel by giving them a fun learning environment they will be able to escape their everyday troubles to exceed at school. In addition I want my students to feel success even if they are struggling to read. By having the chance to listen to a good book it will empower them to succeed. The resources I requested are to help my students in reading and writing. I request a sit together listen center. This is a perfect place for my students to relax and listen to a good book. Furthermore it hides the headphones cords so they will be tangle-fee. In addition I requested some books with CD's for them to listen to. This books will help with reading comprehension and fluency. Finally, I requested a readers response notebook. My students will use the note book to write summaries of the book they just heard to share with fellow classmates. By supporting our classroom you will make it possible for my students to realize that learning can be fun and enjoyable. In addition you will show them that even though times might be hard for them and their family their education is still important because their people out there who care. Furthermore you will be able to make it possible for them to enjoy listening to good book with a friends. My students need a Sit Together Listening Center, 2 Readers Response Notebooks, a hardcover copy of the book "Big Fat Hen", along with 3 CD Read-Along book sets.
