My students love to read! We are rural fourth grade class in Washington State, with many students who are still developing their reading skills.

Unfortunately, as a long time fifth grade teacher, I do not have the resources to meet the needs of many of my students. These kids are just making the transition from picture books to short novels. And since my classroom and our school library do not possess multiple copies on appropriately leveled books, my students find it hard to find a suitable read!

Multiple copies of high interest short novels will help my students reach their reading goals. Books by Jon Scieszka, Mary Pope Osborne, and Kate McMullan attract students with humor, excitement, and adventure while developing important reading skills and strategies. Having 8 copies of each title allows me to meet with students in a "Book Club" setting, promoting sharing and commitment.
