"I am one of the science teachers in our small rural school. We have about 250 students in our high school, but many of them take the upper lever science courses. For our size of school, we have a lot of students who take college prep. science classes. We believe that they can all do it, they can all learn in the right conditions.
These extra teacher resources and supplemental games will allow the teacher to have flexibility in teaching a concept that the students are having a hard time grasping. The Power Basic Series and chosen chemistry games will help develop the basic fundamental chemistry concepts students need. Through these re-enforcement activities, worksheets, quick labs, and games is a way to get all types of learners engaged during class. This program will review basic atomic structure, elements, and compounds just to name a few lessons. Many students are not audio learners, and do not do well with an all lecture setting. This will allow for many other activities besides just the full lab setting. By supporting this project, you will be supporting a wide variety of students. Not just those who are cream of the crop, but those who want to take the upper level classes, but need the additional practice and guidance. These students do not like to draw attention to themselves by asking questions out-loud, but this will make it more like a game, and let them practice and ask questions in a more lax environment. Studies have shown it really increases many students understanding. This will allow many students to better understand the concept being taught, making them better prepared for college, and their higher education. My students need a Power Basics Chemistry Series Kit, a Mendeleev Periodic Table Simulator and 3 games (chem Cubes, ElementO, and Element Challenge).
