Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I have the pleasure of teaching an enthusiastic, motivated class of twenty kindergartners. Despite 90% of students coming from low-income homes and a high majority of students identified as English Learners, my students come to school every day ready to learn!

Currently, I do the majority of my instruction with all of the kids sitting on the carpet in a circle or in rows. While this is best set-up for whole class teaching that I can create, many of my students struggle to really see what I am trying to show them.

A document camera would change all of this! With a document camera, all children would be able to see the instruction - from how to play a math game to how to form a letter or even write a story. A document camera will also help my students who are beginning to learn English match visual directions to oral directions. And, at the end of the lesson, we can use the document camera to project student work to help the rest of the class learn from their peers!
