This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach general music in one of the nations poorest cities. I see nearly 575 students in grades Pre-K to 8 for 45 minutes once a week.

Our district has very little money for instructional supplies. Being a music teacher I get almost no money. My younger students love it when I use props with songs and music activities. Puppets are a great way to keep younger students engaged in lessons, specifically Pre-k to 2nd graders. We would love to have puppets in our music classroom to use as props with songs and in vocal explorations.

I'm looking for more animal puppets. I have a previously funded project of puppets, but we're looking for more! More puppets = more songs = more music = more learning! We learn a variety of songs that not only teach musical concepts and skills, but also literacy (ie. vocabulary and rhyming). These puppets would be used not only with songs in such manner, but also in helping children find their voices. Children love to make animal sounds and the puppets would be great to use in vocal exploration activities.

Your contribution to this project will help my students be musical. They will find their voices and sing with great enthusiasm.
