Classroom Library To Go

My students need a portable bookshelf to transport our growing classroom library to and from the school library.

I teach in an amazing urban public middle school. My school draws from a great mix of students. We have a wealth of diversity in our ethnic, religious,and economic abilities. I teach a 7th grade core class; this means I get to spend the bulk of my day with the same 36 students as we develop and learn during what is arguably the most awkward year of school.

This is the happy predicament we find ourselves in: over the last two years generous donors to this website have helped us create a classroom library of amazing young adult titles. We use these books for our literature circles. Lit circles meet once a week in the library. The classroom library has grown so large that it is nearly impossible to take all of the books with us.

The solution to this tragic problem (I mean who wants to leave books behind when there is good reading to be had?) is to get one of those push-cart bookshelves that they have in the public library downtown. Not only can we use this cart to push our class sets to and from the library but they can sit on these carts in the classroom and take up less space (the cart will hold two bookshelves worth of books in the space of one bookshelf! IS THERE ANYTHING THIS CART CAN NOT DO?!?!?!)

It may sound a little simple, but it's actually an amazing project. You can help ensure that all of the donations we've received over the past two year have a happy and high functioning home. This cart will allow us to take our books into places we've only dreamed of. (Okay, I'm getting carried away here...much like our lit circle books will be when you help us get this cart!)
