Project UHURU(Project FREEDOM) is an educational experience in which students actively participate in organized service projects that meet community needs here and abroad. This demonstration of humility promotes personal growth and development while engaged in an intercultural learning experience.

Students will be traveling to South Africa as a culminating trip to their community service initiative. They have expressed their desire to have the journey properly documented and photographed. Without a high quality camera, students run the risk of blurry pictures, film being destroyed in a disposable camera from x-ray machines or missed photo opportunities because they were too involved to stop and take pictures.

A superior digital camera will allow for a chaperone on the trip to photograph their experience for them. This way all of the students will be featured in high quality pictures cataloging their community service efforts abroad. The pictures will become a visual reminder of their experience in the program. They will also serve as an interactive exhibit to their schoolmates and sponsors.

Your help will ensure that my elite group of students documents their international experience with precision and meticulousness. Besides having the equipment to properly document their experience, they will begin to understand the importance of visual representation. Seeing themselves involved in service efforts will be an example of how they are to present themselves at all times- whether on or off the camera. Knowing that at any given time someone could be admiring their work will cause them to take notice of their outer appearance as well as their treatment of others. This way, when they view themselves, it will be with admiration and pride.
