Students are encouraged to read to earn their Accelerated Reading goal. When they reach it, we want to reward them with a gift that they select. A book for a reader seems appropriate.

If we had a pile of books that students could select if they reached their reading goal, they might be motivated to continue to read.

By providing books for students' private libraries, you are ensuring that students will become lifelong learners. Rewarding students with books will help them understand the value of reading. hide»

My students need 5 copies each of 14 classic book titles, including "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "Adventures of Tom Sawyer". details»

Dear Tim, Tim T and Friends at the Eccles Foundation and Wells Fargo,

Thank you for your generous contribution. Your gift allows me to purchase books and present one to each student who achieves his or her Accelerated Reading goal, a gift that my students will fondly appreciate. Furthermore, their vocabulary and their appreciation for fine literature will grow as they become exposed to classical literature. I still have fond memories of the days of my childhood when my father took me to Sam Weller's Books Store and allowed me to select a book. Those books became treasures that I passed on to my own children. With an opportunity to earn a book of their own choosing, each of my students will delight in the treasure of a book as I have. Your contribution has made that possible. Thanks for supporting the literacy of our youth.

Dear Tim, Tim T and Friends at the Eccles Foundation and Wells Fargo,

Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. My students will be greatly encouraged to read and hopefully develop an appetite for classical literature that will serve them the rest of their lives. Your donation will help build strong readers and critical thinkers which is what our nation needs. Students who are rewarded with books see them as treasures.
I can still remember the days in my childhood when my father would take me to a book store and allow me to select a book of my own for a special treat. I still have many of those books in my library and others I have passed on to my daughter and my grandchildren. I think your gift will provide that opportunity for my students to learn to cherish books and to enjoy the discovery that reading a good book provides. Thank you again.
