No one can call these readers Wimpy! I teach 5th grade in a low-income area. My students are faced with challenges every day, but in my classroom they can dream big and reach for the stars.

My classroom has a variety of learners. I have a large range of reading abilities, and their interest levels range from can't get enough to please don't make me read. With students that are considered gifted, some with learning disabilities, and some with ADHD it's difficult to find a book that peaks all of their interests. Doing a class book together seems like a daunting task.

Then one day I brought the book "The Diary of a Wimpy Kid" into the classroom and the kids went crazy! I have since bought another copy, but it can't go around the room fast enough. Also, I have bought the books in paperback and they have fallen apart from all the page-turning excitement! The kids run to the bookshelf and almost fight over them when a student returns them.

It would be so amazing to have a classroom set of "The Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney. Twenty hard back books that I could use year after year to spread the excitement. If we could read the books as a class with enough copies that each students can hold their own, it just may be the fuel I need to start the fire in these young readers!
