Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Can you hear the Hurricanes? The Hurricanes Band is the 6th, 7th and 8th grade middle school band program.

Our Hurricane Band needs your help to continue providing instrumental music education to all interested middle school students. Due to funding for the arts in our schools being consistently reduced, leaving most classrooms and extra curricular costs well below what is necessary for an adequate program. Arts programs rely on the generosity of donors, community businesses, and organizations such as yourself to make ends meet. While many schools receive $15,000 or more from their districts, and still need to raise funds, our music department as a whole receives 1/3 of that amount. This has left a very large gap, which we are trying to fill through your support. We are currently working to raise funds for instruments, music and uniforms for an increasing number of children, as well as performance entry fees for competitions, parades and events and transportation costs. The cost of fees and expenses will increase our needs by approximately $20,000.

We are asking for 5 trumpets for students who cannot afford to purchase them on their own and that our band does not have available to lend. With these trumpets, students will be able to participate and increase their musicianship and education through home practice and full participation in concert performances.

Your donation will make music education a reality for students who on their own cannot afford an instrument and allow them an opportunity to be a part of the band.
