"My classroom is the 7-hour/day "home" for 20 brilliant students. I teach first grade in a low-income, high need community. Every day my students sit on a cold, hard, carpet-less floor to learn and have reading time. With budget cuts, my school is unable to provide a carpet for my classroom. My classroom needs a new, clean, enticing, and "magical" carpet so that my students will have a comfortable and exciting learning environment. You can help make my classroom a place where students are eager to read because of the inviting, bright carpet that awaits them. With your support, 20 students will have an enhanced learning environment that supports their learning and reading.
My students need a carpet to sit on for whole class learning and reading time.
The cost of this proposal is $622, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ."

Dear Beth and Joe, Ellen, Amelia, Brian, Sylas, Meg, Tom, quainphoto, Allison and Anonymous Donors,
Thank you all so much for your generosity! My students and I are beyond grateful. It's so touching to know that you care enough about my students (whom you don't even know) to provide this beautiful, nice, clean, new, enticing, colorful carpet for them. They will be so excited to read and learn on their new carpet!! Thank you, thank you, and again - THANK YOU!! Just to let you all know how much this gift will serve my students - we do all of our mini-lessons for every subject on the "carpet" (which, up until now, has been a hard, cold, linoleum floor). Also - when we have independent reading time, students can get permission to read on the carpet, which will sit next to the library. I can't wait to see my students' faces when it arrives! With gratitude, Mrs. C.

"I gave to this project because your teacher is my cousin. I am proud that she cares so much about her students and such a great class deserves to read great books on a great rug. "

"I gave to this project because I remember what it was like being a teacher and taping together enough carpet samples from Home Depot to make a comfy place for the kiddies to sit during "circle time." :)
