Pling! So Sweet

My kindergarten and primary grades students need high-quality triangles so their favorite "pling" sound enhances their music-making rather than overpowering it, and glockenspiels that make pleasing sounds to accompany singing that also encourage beautiful tone-production in the children's singing voices.

I teach music to high-need students in an urban district. One of my students' favorite activities in the music room is playing classroom instruments. My students especially enjoy adding melodic sounds to their singing.

Kindergarten students love to play the triangle. It is the sweetest sound they know. And they are constantly frustrated by these facts in my classroom: 1. There aren't enough triangles. There aren't even enough for one for every two students. 2. The triangles are too big and heavy. 3. The triangle holders don't stay on the triangles. They fall off and they are tricky to put back on when you are 5 years old.

Lynn Kleiner, a nationally known early childhood music educator, created the perfect triangle for young students. The holder permanently in place because it attachs to a hole drilled in the triangle. Even more importantly, this triangle has a truly sweet sound that is not overpowering. Playing 15 at a time will not overwhelm the children's voices the way larger triangles meant to be played singly do. Lynn Kleiner has also developed a glockenspiel with a gentle, clear and beautiful sound that supports students singing in tune.

Your support will make it possible for my students to enjoy playing their favorite "pling" sounds of the triangle and glockenspiel. Your support will also enhance my students' musicianship by providing high-quality sounds that inspire students to sing, listen to the beautiful sounds they are creating, and also, to sing in tune. Lastly, your generosity will allow my students to learn to play melodies (on glockenspiels) and this supports their learning how to read and write music.
