I am also the Language Arts Department chairperson. The entire eighth grade will have access to these resources.
Motivation? Engagement? Interest? Learning? These are some of the elements that create an effective classroom where discovery and learning take place. Engaging students with "classic" texts, such as Jane Austen, is becoming more and more challenging. Innovative ideas, like those of Seth Grahame-Smith's, help entice young readers to examine classic literature. You can help engage modern middle school readers with the classic literature of Ms. Jane Austen. These books will be part two of a unit on Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice. Mash-ups are a common occurrence in the life of a teenager. In order for my students to truly appreciate the "mash-up" created by Grahame-Smith, they must first read Ms. Austen's original Pride and Prejudice. Double your impact! For the price of one class set of novels you will encourage students to read two novels! Zombies are the new vampire, help me use hip and trendy ideas to facilitate reading and learning! HIDE My students need 30 copies of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith.
