I am a five-year-old kindergarten teacher with 15 rock star students. Our school has been determined a SIFI school. (School Identified For Improvement) My students I and all reside in the inner heart of the city.

Last year after our Kindergarten completion ceremony our school projector walked away. This has had a negative affect on the entire student body and staff. I have been using a regular television as a larger monitor; however it is big and awkward and not always available.

I would like to have a classroom projector so we can experience new journeys together as a class. Imagine all 15 students going on a virtual field trip together. Our district has purchased an online reading program license that is packed with literacy goodies. I especially like because there are books designed to be viewed with a projector. We also have access to the discovery learning site that has brought the world of science and social studies directly to our classroom. My students are starting to understand the wealth of knowledge they can learn from technology at the tender age of 5. The enthusiasm of what they learn is extremely contagious to other classmates, siblings and even parents.

Many schools have new smart boards in their classroom, and some day perhaps we will as well. In the mean time I have seen a regular projector turned into a smart board by using a LCD pen and a Wii remote. I love technology and so do my rock stars, this donation will help me ensure academic success for them all.
