My students need a digital camera, photo printer, photo paper, ink cartridge and memory card to help them capture their actions, activities and outstanding moments that need to be shared with family and peers.

I teach students with moderate to severe disabilities in high school. The students are 14 to 21 years of age. These students are very special and love to learn. My students love to look at and be a part of pictures. They learn from pictures, since they are visual learners and they are social with pictures as well.

The digital camera that we had in the classroom was stolen in the beginning of the school year. Last year, I was able to create a fabulous video presentation with PhotoStory of my students for an end of the year school celebration. We were able to celebrate the many obstacles the students were able to overcome through pictures.

A digital camera and printer will assist my staff and I with the visual learning process that is so extremely important to them. The best way to instruct daily functional living skills is through pictures. When they are able to see themselves actually doing the tasks, they may be more willing to participate in the task till completion. Hopefully with the camera and printer in hand, I can fulfill the dream of creating a yearbook for them to be able to look back on what they were able to accomplish. So many times the special needs students are often missed in the yearbook.

Pictures capture the things we do. Pictures also create new memories as new mountains are climbed. My students will glow when they can actually see all the great things that are happening each day.
