"Can you help us with our drawing and coloring needs!!!
Five hundred inspired, creative, and deserving children at my school lack the art supplies needed to explore all the possibilities that art offers. I am the sole art teacher at my school and this is my first year in this position. We do not have an art fee for the students; therefore, there is no funding for art supplies. My students are kindergarten through fifth grade and 93% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. The majority of the students do not have art supplies available at home, so school is the main place where they are able to explore their creative side and make unique works of art in which they can take pride.
Learning to draw what you see is an essential part of any art class. It also helps students with science activities in their homeroom. Any scientific observation that needs to be recorded will require the students to use the skills they have learned in art by drawing from books, cartoons, and still life activities. The students have regular pencils for sketches, but really need the opportunity to explore other ways of coloring the work they start. Colored pencils, watercolor pencils, crayons, construction paper crayons, and others will help them use different methods of coloring.
Studies have shown that kids who are provided exposure to various forms of artistic expression enjoy marked improvements in motor skills, coordination, concentration, and in other areas. The use of different forms of colorants in art activities need to be included in these various forms of artistic expression. The arts enable us to have experience we can have from no other source and through such experience to discover the range and variety of what we are capable of feeling. You would be ensuring that the students in my school would have more bright spots in their lives, just by giving them the opportunity to explore drawing and coloring in a whole new way.
My students need learn to draw books, regular crayons, construction paper crayons, oil pastels, watercolor pencils, and metallic colored pencils.

Dear Wayne, Coolmath Karen and Coolmath.com, Michelle, Allyson, Carla, Barbara and Rugby Ralph Lauren,
Thank you all so much for your generous donations to this drawing/coloring project! It is so nice to see that visual arts education is still important to so many people. Your donations will help many students who would not have the opportunity to use some of these materials otherwise, do so in art class this year. I know that this will help with incorporating some science skills into art class as well! In supporting this project, you are not only helping a teacher in need of supplies; you are also helping 500 students improve motor skills, coordination, concentration, and imagination skills. I can't wait to show the students our new supplies and get started on some new projects! It is difficult to express how moved I am at the generosity of others. Without people like you, both teachers and students would have a more difficult time completing their jobs. Thank you again for your caring gesture. With gratitude, Ms. D.

"I gave to this project because when I was a kid, I went years without an art class. Our school could not afford an art teacher. I think I missed a lot."

"Wayne, thank you, thank you, thank you! For missing out on art for years, you sure seem to be making up for it with your photography! The kids will be so excited when we get these supplies, as will I. It makes planning the projects that they will really love much easier! Take care!"

"I gave to this project because I support the Arts as a part of children's education in Evansville. Music education made a tremendous impact on my childhood, just as Visual Arts may hopefully impact the students who benefit from this donation. "
