Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach within a preschool and kindergarten special education classroom. The students within the classroom are ages three to six and possess various mild to moderate disabilities.
Thanks to the generosity of various contributors from DonorsChoose.org, our classroom recently received a brand new dramatic play kitchen. We are in need of some new dramatic play materials to complete our wonderful new home center. Many of the materials that we currently use in our classroom for pretend cooking play are worn out and over ten years old.
We need some new pretend cooking play materials to complete our kitchen center. These resources, which include magnetic kitchen food bottles, a play food set, a sorting shape cupcake set, a sliceable fruits and vegetables set, a pizza and sandwich shop dramatic play set, a spice rack with pretend spices, and a pretend cooking set, will help to foster language development and cognitive skills in an environment that is fun and life-like. In addition, students will learn important social skills such as turn-taking and imaginative play.
Your help and generosity will help to make it possible for my students to learn so many things and will reinforce basic concepts that we learn in the classroom, such as matching, shape recognition and color recognition. Your help is truly appreciated and will bring smiles to many little faces for years to come!
