MORE "I have a classroom of energetic students who love to learn as they play. They love building and acting out skills as they are learned.
My students love playing with Legos. We simply don't have enough Legos in our building center. It would be great to have enough for a small group to build a city and have community helpers to manipulate as part of this learning unit. My students would love to have a Lego set that has the pieces that teach the curriculum that we have in our classroom for community and community helpers. These manipulatives would provide needed active learning for them. Homes and community helpers is a major theme in early education. Having Legos as a teaching tool will be motivating and exciting for the students. Just imagine how fun it will be for students to build a house or community building, such as a fire station or police station, with Legos.
The kids will enjoy having different pieces of Legos, such as doors, windows, wheels for cars, and many small pieces to build a house. Children together will think about the homes and buildings in the community that we have talked about. They will be able to work together to build a community with Lego blocks.
This is great for helping kids to learn to work together! HIDE My students need Lego visuals and manipulatives to learn more about the concepts of community and community helpers. Mrs. N.'s Classroom:
