"Hello Donors,

Close your eyes for a second and think back to elementary school reading time. Do you remember your teacher reading aloud to you while you and your classmates sat on a comfy rug? We do! And even though we are in high school, we sure miss those days. You see, we are 9th and 10th grade struggling readers and many of us still read on elementary levels. Our teacher is trying to be very creative and take us back to circle time, just like we had in elementary school. The idea is that it will make our classroom different, and for a group of kids that haven't had a lot of success in school, different is good!

We need a classroom rug so that we are not stuck on the tile floor. We also need some kids books because we are studying theme and perspective. We are going to go back to elementary school to learn all about perspective and write our own stories of the perspective of some left out characters, like the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood.

Our teacher calls us reluctant readers, because we will do it, but it takes a lot of energy on her part. Your donation will also help us add some high interest reading materials to our classroom library with hopes of making us a little less reluctant! It is extremely important that we have access to this high interest reading material because our futures our dim unless we do something about our educations now!

We all set HUGE goals for ourselves this year. We are aiming to make two years or more of growth in only one school year! We know that is a lot, but also know that we want to go on to college and be successful in our lives, and the only way we are going to do so is by working hard now! We also know that in the very near future we will be competing to get into college with students who are already performing on grade level. Your donation will help us meet our goals and give our futures a fair shot!

Thank you for visiting our classroom!

Love,

Ms. H's Students
