Our High School is in a high-need community, and I am confident that Shoeless Joe will capture the interest of my diverse students.

Our choice of supplemental books is limited. We have copies of traditional titles, but not of more contemporary modern writers. I feel that a modern story about spirituality, faith, and the national pastime of baseball would be appealing.

I have two classes of 10th graders next semester (between 25 and 30 students each) that I feel would benefit from not just being able to read the story in class, but to have their own copy to be able to borrow and read at home.

Your help will ensure that my students will be able to read a new title and a newer-conditioned book than a good portion of the tattered paperbacks that have been used for years in our English department.
