My students are the entire school, K-5th grade. I am the librarian promoting reading, encouraging, presenting good literature, and enticing those reading test scores to improve. We want to keep our goals and expectations high. Unfortunately, not all children learn the same way, each one has a different learning style. Some learn best with an auditory presentation. I want to focus on those reluctant and lower grade level readers, boosting their confidence and reading lexiles.

Reading is the KEY in every subject. Each academic area requires some form of reading to be successful. Every school will have students that do not read on grade level, are reading below their grade level, or are very reluctant to read. I hope to HOOK those children with audiobooks. This will give them the self-esteem, courage, and a comfortable atmosphere in which to read along with an audio CD, so that certain vocabulary does not hinder their progress.

I would like to implement audiobooks into the library collection. The students and teachers alike, can check out these materials. This will aid us in raising student reading levels, in every grade level, and in turn, testing scores can improve schoolwide.
