"Our school is a small rural school located along the highway that runs between "No Where" and "No Place". We are rich with poverty and meth production. We are lacking in "Hope" and "Encouragement". It is through the inspiration available to us within our education, that we hope to overcome the obstacles life has placed within our pathway.
Our worldview is every bit as pessimistic as the outlook rampant in the students depicted within the pages of "The Freedom Writers Diary". We feel certain that we could follow the pathway they took and arrive at a like pinnacle of self-discovery and success if we could only obtain a copy of their map. Unfortunately, our small school lacks the funding to purchase additional library books and especially a classroom set of 30 books and the teacher's manual. At the beginning of every school year, in English class, we watch the movie "The Freedom Writers". We are inspired by their achievements and the courage they display as they climb steadily out of the pit that they and society dug for them. We desire to go further. We are certain that if we arm ourselves with the diaries of their experiences, we could write our own diaries of achievement and conquest. We are so close! With your help we can take the next step. With your help we can purchase the classroom set of their diaries and implement a curriculum of hope and success within our daily studies. With your help, we can begin our journey into a better tomorrow. HIDE My students need a Teacher's Edition and 30 copies of the book titled,"Freedom Writers Diary" for use as a classroom novel set.
