Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Yes! Creating a "beautiful sound". The elementary music students I teach (kinder through sixth grade) are always eager to learn and demonstrate what they know. They enter my classroom everyday with excitement and anticipation. I love to teach pitch, rhythm, musical expression and composition. We have developed a strong music curriculum and the students have stepped up to meet this challenge.

We currently use the stage as our music classroom which presents very interesting challenges. It presents a challenge because the stage is not designed for teaching music but we do our best. We are also located in a low income high poverty area where some students are barely able to get the school supplies they need.

We would love to receive a large music dry erase board and 20 small dry erase music boards for the students. This will give the students a chance to draw notes, create melody lines and compose songs. The teacher and the student can share in this learning experience.

Your help will ensure that all students will have the opportunity to experience the music curriculum and create beautiful music. It is wonderful to see how a student can grow from just talking about music to actually creating and performing music.
