Finding Just-Right Books

My students need 11 sets of books for a leveled library to help them find just-right books.

My first graders need just-right books to read in the classroom! I am a new teacher at a Title One school. The majority of my students come from low-income families and many of my students are English Language Learners.

Emerging readers need to practice reading with books that are not too easy and not too hard: Just-Right Books! If a book is too easy, the student will not learn. If the book is too hard, the student will get frustrated, which can lead to a poor attitude toward reading. Students feel empowered and they enjoy reading more when they are allowed to choose their own books. But young children have a hard time figuring out which books are just right.

My students need a leveled library of books to help them select the most approriate books that will best support their learning. Lakeshore Learning offers a set of book bins, complete with leveled books and label stickers. This will be perfect to help my students quickly and easily access Just-Right books.

With your help, my students will be able to choose Just-Right books for classroom reading, which will foster good reading attitudes and behaviors.
