We are an early elementary education team in a multilingual, multicultural diverse community of learners. Our students love coming to school and participating in extracurricular activities.

This week in having a team level meeting, we agreed to try an assessment tool similar to the Reggio Emilia approach. By taking digital photos of the students, parents can see the children's class room experience. The challenge: we only have one digital camera in the media center for a school that serves 300 students.

Students will become photojournalists! They will learn how to use a digital camera to tell our classroom story. Students will be able to connect cameras to computers for downloading and learn how important technology is to our everyday lives. Children will then be able to print out pictures--from camera to computer to color copier--to become technologically savvy! Imagine the children's excitement when they share the news with their parents that they did it themselves! We will be able to tell our class' story in pictures!
