I teach English to thirty-four kindergartners in a high-need community. Approximately 18% of my class has special needs.

We have asked our parents to provide us with primary journals, however we were unable to obtain the type of journals we need for our particular level of students. My students from last year, loved journal time because they were able share their journals with their classmates. My students this year would like to continue the journal time but we lack the resources.

In teaching kindergarten for 14 years, the journals have always been my pride and joy. The journals are the foundation to teaching my students how to read and write. In addition, it has help improve their writing and ability to express their thoughts and feelings. By the end of kindergarten, my students are very confident in their writing abilities and reading them to their families.

You will not only provide our students with a simple basic need in the classroom but also provide them with a memorabilia of their writing at the kindergarten level.
