My students need donations to pay for the registration fee for the state Peer Helper Conference held annually at a local college. Transportation costs are also requested.

As the counselor at a Title I elementary school, I work with students to teach important relational, coping, and life skills. Working with groups of fifth grade students is particularly beneficial as I guide them to improve their leadership abilities. It is important for these students to have personal learning experiences beyond the classroom which prepare them for life after elementary school.

Each year a local college hosts the state counselor association's Peer Helper Conference. A trip to this conference allows students to experience a day on a college campus and expand their thinking about what choices they have in their future. It also teaches students better ways of solving problems and being an effective leader.

Our community has lost many of our major employers recently, which effects the ability of our families to provide extra enrichment activities for their students. This year, many of these students will be unable to pay the conference registration fee and will miss this opportunity to broaden their horizons.

You can make a difference in the future of these students. A donation to pay for this trip will offer fifteen students the chance to see a vision to a path of becoming productive leaders in society.
