Liberty and Justice for All!

My students need the "Liberty's Kids" Series on DVD and books on the Revolutionary War.

Woodbury, TN Grades 3-5

I am a fourth grade teacher in a small rural area in Tennessee. I teach in a self-contained fourth grade class. Our school is situated in a high poverty, very rural area. Much of our school funds come from our annual fund-raiser. The money from this fund-raiser is used to purchase items considered a "necessity."

I ask myself, "How can I get my students interested in history?" I think about the different ways which students learn and what gets them excited. Almost all students enjoy watching videos and having books read to them. What a better way to learn about the Revolutionary War! Watch, Read, and Learn!

I am asking for the DVD series of "Liberty's Kids. This is a children's cartoon collection about The Revolutionary War. I am also asking for various books about the Revolutionary War including "Phillis Wheatley: Young Revolutionary Poet," "The Brave Women and Children of the American Revolution," "Revolutionary Medicine," and "In 1776." I am wanting my students to be able to experience various aspects, beyond the text-book, of the Revolutionary War. I would like for them to experience poetry and the different types of medicine of the Revolutionary War. I feel this will give my students in depth knowledge about the American Revolution.

You will make it possible for my students to get an in depth knowledge of the American Revolution. I want my students to gain a love for history. In years to come, I hope my students can say, "In forth grade, we learned about the American Revolution and it was EXCITING."
