"Say cheese! There is nothing better than being able to capture what is happening in your classroom. I teach first grade in a low income, mostly Hispanic neighborhood in Nevada. Most of my students are English Language Learners who work hard on a daily basis. My students do not have a chance to see much outside of their neighborhood and being able to take pictures and create classroom books would be a great assist to our day.

Our school and school district have been hit by the current economic struggle. We do not have opportunities to take field trips, get extra materials, or use resources that will engage our students. When we are given opportunities to go places I would like to be able to revisit this experience throughout the year.

In order to document what we have done throughout the school year a camera is a necessity. We will be visiting a museum in the early part of next year and I would love to turn this experience into a classroom book. The Weekly Readers will help bring literacy and social studies together in our classroom. This also will add to the lack of life experiences our students get throughout their lives.
