Arte Latino: Celebrating Spanish & Art Through Pictures

My students need a variety of books, DVDs, and posters to study Latino Artists through both Spanish & Art class.

I teach grades 6-8 in a small, public, middle school that has a diverse student population that definitely needs to learn about and respect each other's culture. Students learning about Latino culture is just the start!

Our school only offers one language class-- Spanish. What a better way to teach students about the rich history of the Latino culture than through both Spanish class and Art class. though we have a great library, we have little books and resources focusing on Latino Artists.

The books and DVDs are full of colorful images, powerful literature, and will be the inspiration for our students to create unique artwork of their own. Through learning about the Latino culture, especially the arts, students can gain appreciation for others rather than believing in stereotypes.

Your help with this lesson is important because together we can start to help students respect each other's heritage. In the larger spectrum, students can go into the real world with a better understanding of Latino culture, especially through the arts.
