Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My terrific fourth graders live in a big city in New England. Because our families are poor, 100% of our student population qualifies for the free lunch and breakfast program. Because our city is also poor, I only am allowed $150.00 for supplies for the entire school year! That means paper, chalk, and pencils, folks! Not a lot of extra money is left over for books.

My students and I would like the dictionaries to use in our "Word Work" center during reading. Even though they are in fourth grade, many have not used a dictionary before! Even sadder, NONE of my students have a dictionary at home to bring in to use. Please help!

With a class set of 25 dictionaries, my students would all be able to use a dictionary during their reading centers. What a huge difference this will make in their learning!

With your support, you will be helping some beautiful urban fourth graders do two very important things: learn how to use a dictionary and increase their vocabulary base. These two important skills will surely help them become better readers and life-long learners! Thank you so much!
