"I am a kindergarten teacher in a Chicago Public School. Ninety-three percent of the students are considered low-income and receive free/reduced lunches. 10% of the population is considered Limited English Proficient. I am the teacher of a classroom that includes special education students along with the general education students. There are over 25 children in my morning and afternoon classes.
It is a rewarding, challenging and fun classroom. There are no funds available to purchase necessary materials for my math centers. I have been fortunate to receive some materials from Donorschoose.org in the past. These same materials have proved to be quite popular and beneficial to the regular education, special education and ESL students. The magnetic mazes are amazing. The children love them. The number of students in my class has increased this year and I don't have enough materials for all of the children to participate at math center time. The popular and sought after magnetic mazes help the children to improve their eye-hand coordination, number and number word recognition. The number printing books will help the students to print their numbers properly. The teddy bear counters, peg boards and count and link boards will also help the children to recognize the numbers and comprehend the value of each number. Your help will ensure that my students will have enough beneficial and fun materials at math center time. The children will improve their eye-hand coordination and recognize the numbers and their value. HIDE My students need 2 Magnetic Counting Mazes, 10 Wipe-Off Number Books, 2 sets of Teddy Bear Counters, Peg Boards, Count and Number Link Boards and wipe-off markers.
