Fundamental Vocabulary not only boosts test scores, high school achievements, and college success, but Fundamental Vocabulary BOOSTS Self Confidence too! I teach Family and Consumer Science Skills to high school students.

Over 50% of our student body is on free or reduced lunches, but that does not hamper their desire to achieve success in high school and college. Fundamental Vocabulary is a necessary piece to our students' success. We are working feverishly to close the achievement gap and ensure that all students are prepared for their college career.

This project will allow my students to create short films illustrating fundamental vocabulary words to help students of all ages make personal connections with these vocabulary words. These connections will improve retention, as well as allow students to see the connection between these important vocabulary terms and their day to day lives. These short films will be sent to elementary students through high school students to view in an effort to make those connections to each and every student.

Your support of this project will put a very valuable tool in the hands of all students at my school for them to use over and over again. The video cameras will allow my students to develop, write the script, and film these powerful videos to enhance these necessary connections. You will not only be helping our students now by allowing these educational films to be made, you will be helping to put a deep foundation of necessary, but complicated vocabulary deep in their lives for GREAT COLLEGE SUCCESS.
