"I teach a 4th and 5th grade special education classroom at a low-income school where 99% of the students are eligible for free lunch. Resources are often non-existent and teachers often supply many of the classroom resources. Additionally, the students in my special education class have classifications that run the spectrum of autism, learning disabilities and emotional disabilities.

To accommodate the broad spectrum of learners, I rely heavily on technology in the classroom to allow all students access points to the material.

We are currently working on a class blog and website during writing. I also use a classroom response system (purchased personally) to engage students in a variety of subjects. Our next project is going to be to create an online library of book discussions, math topic reviews and grammar lessons, all planned, executed and explained by the students.

I have currently been using my personal laptop to pilot the project and we have had great success thus far! Going forward, we will need 2 classroom laptops that come equipped with a camera and microphone, so students can record their discussions and lesson reviews before posting them to our online library. This library will also act as an always-accessible study guide rooted in our classroom curriculum, written by and for our students!

Your help will ensure my students have access to resources that can really create an invaluable experience for them!

My students need 2 Dell Mini Laptops with webcam and voice recorder. The cost of this proposal is $1,099, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Dear Dave, Sarah, Tara, Bob, justine & fumio, Jim, Debbie, Karin, Elizabeth, Ms. Arner, Serina, Liz, Marian and Kristin,

I cannot tell you how ecstatic I am that our project was funded by your support and donations! It's truly a tremendous commentary on your commitment to education that so many people can come together in support of a classroom's vision.

The resources you have funded for our classroom will engage students on a completely new level. The laptops will be setup as a center that students can access across ALL SUBJECTS! Using the webcam and additional software, students will create a "review" of the lesson taught that day. This will allow them to internalize the material, as they have to fully understand it to explain it. They will then post this review to a class web page, organized by subject, date and topic. If a student needs extra help on what we learned in class at home, they can simply access this webpage and there will be a virtual library of reviews, explained by the students themselves. The implications and impact this will have on the students' learning and love of learning is going to be life long.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your contribution to making this happen. I cannot wait to tell my students that you made this project possible!

With gratitude,
Ms. H.
