"I teach First Grade at a Charter School in a very low income district in New York. This year, I have a large number of students who are just starting school and have had limited exposure to books. I have a group of students who are just starting to read. They need to start off with very simple texts that they are able to read using the knowledge that they have and the strategies we are learning. With so many students just starting to read, our classroom has run out of books at the A, B, and C Guided Reading levels. We need more of these books so that every student who needs these books has access to them. Your help will provide my students with the books that they need to build confidence and enjoyment of reading. By reading books at their independent level, students are able to practice skills and build strategies that enable them to grow as readers and move on to more difficult books. These first books will build the foundation for a lifetime of reading for these First Graders!
My students need 8 sets of books, levels A to C.

Dear Trisha,
Thank you so much for donating these much-needed books to our classroom! Our students have had many hours of reading instruction and practice thanks to you. These books allowed our most struggling readers the practice they desperately needed. Because they were able to read books at their own levels, they had a chance to build confidence and the skills needed to read more difficult books. The difference in their ability and enthusiasm has been enormous. We can't thank you enough for supporting these First Graders where they needed it the most! With gratitude, Ms. D.

Dear Trisha,
Thanks so much for helping us get these much-needed books for our classroom! You're making a huge difference to a really fabulous group of first graders. Now we won't have to worry about hearing "hey I had that book first!" because there will be enough to go around and students will be able to chose from books that they have not already read five or six times. These books will help them tremendously on their way to becoming happy and confident readers! With gratitude, Ms. D.
