My students need a digital camera so that we can add pictures of our classroom activities to our weekly newsletters and our classroom website.

I teach 3rd grade in a small rural community in northeastern North Dakota. We have 16 students in our classroom.

Each week I send home a newsletter to inform parents of all the events that are happening in our classroom. I would really like to be able to attach pictures to our newsletter and our classroom page on the school's website.

In order to show the parents what we are doing, we need to have a digital camera available in our classroom. With many of our parents working, they are not able to come and see all the events that their child participates in. With the help of funding from Donor's Choose, we would be able to purchase a camera and "show" the parents their kids in action! With the holidays coming up and many special activities planned, this would be a perfect time to be able to spotlight some of the events in our classroom such as: holiday plays, holiday celebrations, community service projects that we participate in, Head Start Buddy program activities and many day-to-day learning activities. With a digital camera available to us to use on a daily basis, we will be able to showcase our students in fun learning events in both our weekly newsletters and our classroom website.

I realize that we can tell the parents about all the activities that we do and participate in, but being able to show them, would make it much more fun for all of us. As they say, "A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS".
