"I teach reading, spelling, and English to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in a low income rural K-8 school where my students are always motivated to learn and are always asking for more information. My students are eager learners!

Living in a rural area that is low income, many of my students have not been out of our local area. My 8th grade class has taken on an interest in historical fiction. I have chosen To Kill a Mockingbird due to its powerful story and Harper Lee's powerful gift of story-telling. Since our district is faced with budget cuts, due to the current economic downturn, there is currently no funding to purchase a class set of books.

I want my students to gain appreciation of the world they live in. I want them to relate to others and what they are going through in their lives. Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird is called a modern classic that deals with courage and compassion. This book is on a reading level of my eighth grade students and would help them grasp a time period in history with some warmth and humor intertwined.

Your support will make it possible for my students to have a better understanding of history, while at the same time being able to experience reading one of the most widely read books in America that focuses on honor, courage, and compassion.

My students need 20 copies of the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Dear Anonymous Donor,

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Wow! is the first thought in my mind right now! I find it so overwhelming that you have given and funded my project! I am so excited about what this means and so thankful!

By funding the purchase of these books, we will now be able to read and discuss a timeless classic about growing up, dignity, and life. We will also be able to learn about the historical fiction aspect of this book, which I find very exciting.

My students love learning, and they have a genuine interest in reading historical fiction. I cannot wait to share these books with them!

Thank you so much!!!

With gratitude,
Mrs. C.
