"We can read whenever we want!! I teach 4th grade in a Title I district where funds are tight. I buy lots of things to make activities in my classroom fun. Sometimes buying the more expensive items is hard to do on a teacher's salary.
My students love to read novels instead of reading out of our reading textbooks. We have to share our class novel sets with 8 other classrooms. They get used a lot and torn up. We also have to wait until other classes are done reading before we can have the books.
We need a class set of "Bunnicula" books for our room so that we won't have to wait to read. The books will be in our room at all times. My students for many years to come will benefit from these books because I can keep a closer eye on how they are treated in my own room.
Help with funding this project will make reading fun and interesting for my students. This novel always "hooks" my students on reading. When we are done reading, they go to the library in search of other titles in the "Bunnicula" series. If we don't get more sets, the ones we have will soon be too torn up to read. It would be sad to no longer have class sets that we can all share in.
My students need 25 copies of "Bunnicula: A Rabbit Tale of Mystery" for our classroom. We are having to share one set between 8 classes right now. They are old and falling apart, and I would like to have a set for just my room. We would not have to wait to read because they would be in our room at all times.
The cost of this proposal is $202, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ."

Dear Taliesin_Girl, Christi, Jessica, Stephanie, Maria, mona, Barbara, Julia and Caiti,
I would like to thank you for the generous donation you made to my classroom. I am so excited to see that you share my feelings about sparking children's interest in reading through novels. Students are often times reluctant to read a novel on their own due to fear of failure.
When novels are used in the classroom, it inspires students to go and read on their own. I love the "light" that comes on when they see that they have completed a novel on their own and were successful at it. Using novels with the whole class helps to create a confidence in students that they wouldn't get from just reading stories from a reading textbook Not only do they love the novels, but they usually go to the library the day we finish one and look for other books written by the same author. That is an excitement that you just don't get any other way.
I hope that I can inspire many more teachers in my building to use novels to ignite more of an interest in reading. Thank you again. I wouldn't have been able to continue the use of this novel without your help.
With gratitude, Mrs. M.
