"I teach a hard-working class of 20 fourth graders. Our 4th grade honors class is at a charter school that serves students from low income areas and works to give them the same opportunities and education as students in wealthier areas.

Our school has just expanded from being solely a middle school to including all of elementary. This has caused some financial growing pains. We do not have the funding for all of the supplies that classrooms would like. This is especially true for higher priced technology equipment.

My class needs a listening center. I own several book sets that include a book on tape/cd, but nothing to play them on. Many of my students need help with their reading fluency, and reading along with books on tape would help them in that area. It would also allow students to experience literature at a higher reading level than their current one. Both uses will help my students become better readers, increasing their fluency and comprehension skills.

Your help can give my students a greater appreciation for reading. This can help create a class of life long learners and readers.

My students need a listening center to listen to books on tape during guided reading.

Dear Trisha,
Thank you so much for your donation. My students and I greatly appreciate it. The listening center we received as a result of your contribution has been a great success.

My students listen to a variety of audio books on the listening center. They enjoy being able to hear their books being brought to life, and they all wait anxiously for their turn to use the listening center. As a result, I have already begun to see an improvement in the students' reading fluency. It has also increased reading comprehension for some students. I know that students will continue to grow in their reading skills because of the listening center.

My classroom is full of happier, better readers because of your donation. Thank you again for contribution. Your gift will have a permanent impact on many young minds.

With gratitude,
Mrs. R.

Dear Trisha,

I can't begin to express how grateful my students and I are for your donations. A listening center will be a wonderful addition to our current reading program. I'm so pleased that you feel that it is a worthwhile project.

The technology that you have funded will enable my students to listen to audio books as they read along. This will help my students improve their reading fluency. It will also give my students the opportunity to listen to books that would otherwise be beyond their current reading level, which will help them to grow their reading comprehension.

My students are very excited about the upcoming arrival of the materials. Thank you again for your part in making this happen.

With gratitude,
Mrs. R.
