Taking a journey to a new life is one step away in my classroom. I teach kindergarten in high-needs school.

My students love to become new people daily during our reader's theater time. Every week we not only learn how to read but we become the characters in our stories. However, sometimes it's not easy to get into character since we don't have props and costumes. My students also have a hard time relating to the characters portrayed in leveled readers they use. They also are not challenged by the scripts they use because there is not enough excitement in the stories.

If my students had more to look forward to during reader's theater, they could take more pride in their reading and acting skills. If they had these costumes, props, and exciting scripts my students would thrive in reading and want to present their acting to parents and peers.
