I teach 6th,7th and 8th grades. Our school is the only school in our district that does not receive federal Title One money.
My student's love anything that is hands-on. My class is designed to allow students to use their imagination while creating hands-on math, science, and technology projects. I want to teach them how physics is used to build roller coasters. We discuss what kinetic and potential energy is and how it is used in designing roller coasters. I give the students a basic minimum assignment and they have to take it and make it an original roller coaster. I need the material listed to make sure that each student has the correct materials needed to build his or her own roller coaster. This project benefits the students because it shows that the math and science classes they take actually can be used in the real world. You will make it possible for my students to learn in a hands-on way that will help them retain the information used in math and science while having fun building a model roller coaster. HIDE My students need the Popsicle sticks to build the structure for their roller coaster. They will also need hot glue sticks and Styrofoam insulation tubes to complete the roller coaster project.
