"I am a Construction/Industrial Technology teacher who teaches 7th & 8th grade. My school is the only school in our district that is not Title One. We do not get any federal funding and it makes it hard to get the things we need for the kids.

I like to show my students that math and science, along with technology are used every day by every one, not just being taught at school and never used. We complete many hands-on math, science and technology projects that show this. Because our kids are the future, I feel that it is important to show them that there alternatives to the way our society uses its energy. They need to know that a car will run on more than just fossil fuel. The kids I have now will one day run our country. It's time to show them that we can change or that they can be the ones to make the changes.

I would like to teach my students more about alternative energy. They see things on TV, hear about it on the radio, but to be able to show them an alternative energy would be wonderful. I would like to have my students build a solar powered car. The kids that are in our school's today are going to be the adults who run our country in the near future. It would be, in my opinion, a great way for these students to see what the future can hold for them.

Your wonderful donation would give me the opportunity to purchase kits for my students to build their very own solar powered car. We would build the cars and test them using the sun outside our classroom. Students will be able to see how solar panels work while having fun with their cars. We would conduct races with the cars. We would test the cars out at different directions from the sun to see if the angle of the sun makes the cars move differently. We would test the speed of the cars at different hours of the day to see which placement of the sun will make the cars move faster or if that is any factor. We would research and present information about solar power and why it is important to our society. HIDE

My students need 36 solar car kits to complete the project that I have requested. The cost of this proposal is $1,083, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."
